Is it ok to use a beacon after it falls?

I accidentally dropped the beacon before I used it and I am wondering if that is causing the notifications to show up so many times.

Estimote Beacons are quite durable, mine have fallen numerous times, I’ve been throwing them around in my backpack, or in carry-on luggage, and they’re just fine.

There’s a very small chance that the battery got loose during the fall, and now the beacon turns itself on and off. You can access the batteries via an opening behind the sticky tape, and check on them.

Usually however, the reason behind erratic/“false” notifications is due to physics of the radio waves, or quirks of the smartphone’s Bluetooth stack. Are you testing on iOS or Android? You could try bumping the Tx power and reducing advertising interval to stabilize the signal.
