Beacon positioning in arbitrary point

Hi,

I am building an app for some big place with iBeacons and i want to use EILLocationBuilder. The walls facing are very far from each other so it will be difficult to cover all the area with beacon.
Is it possible to place beacons in any arbitrary point in the space or we need to place it on walls only?
