My question relates to Android phones and the Bluetooth version.
There are many many phones out there running Bluetooth 2 and indeed looking on eBay, most Android phones being sold are Bluetooth 2.
Does the Estimote Android SDK only support phones running Bluetooth 4 ? If so is this not a real issue ?

The minimum hardware requirements for device to interact with Estimote Beacons is Bluetooth 4.0 also called Bluetooth Smart or Bluetooth Low Energy.
