I’m looking for some idea on how the beacon technology could help on this project. I’m looking to develop a backend system to be able to track the status in a hiking event.
The idea is to place beacon every 50-100 metres on the route and each runner will wear a mobile device/smart watch. And the runner organiser will be able to track each runner respectively their exact location (are they passing checkpoint A, B or C etc…)
Understanding some GPS signal is not that accurate especially the hiking is in countryside where transmission quality of the signal is uncertain. The idea is still on a very premature status but would like to know if beacon is something that could help.
