LTE Beacon firmware 0.1.2 release notes

Hey everyone! We have a new LTE Beacon firmware update for you: 0.1.2

This is mostly a bug-fix release, with a lot of minor fixes.

Please use this thread for questions and feedback about this update. As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts!

How do I update?

  • Your LTE Beacons will update automatically during their next sync/heartbeat, unless you’ve disabled Automatic Firmware Update in your LTE Beacon’s settings.
    • You can find and manage the Automatic Firmware Update settings in Estimote Cloud.
    • You can force a sync/heartbeat by pressing the main and side buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.
  • LTE Beacon firmware updates are rolling out incrementally, so if your LTE Beacon doesn’t update, just wait a few more days.

Relase notes

Note that this list isn’t meant to be exhaustive, but it should cover the most notable changes.

  • the error objects now have a code property, which is a string that looks somewhat like ESR0203

    • this should allow your micro-apps to handle specific errors, without having to compare/look at the error messages (which are subject to change)

    • also, this allows us to provide more detailed error documentation in the future, e.g., on our Dev Portal, or maybe directly in the Web IDE, and reference specific errors by their code

  • sensors.imu.get(), previously also known as sensors.accel.get(), was renamed to sensors.imu.getAccel()

    • the old name will continue to work for now, but is considered deprecated

    • if you haven’t heard yet, we’ve announced the next revision of the LTE Beacon, the AI Beacon, with a powerful, Machine-Learning-capable IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit):
