Indoor positioning system

Hello everyone,

I am in the early stages of a research project focused on high-precision indoor visitor tracking within a museum environment using UWB. The setup involves rooms of approximately 30 square meters, located across different buildings.

I have identified UWB Tags as the suitable hardware for this purpose. The plan is to have some devices permanently installed as fixed anchors, while visitors will wear others as tags.

I haven’t managed to find any recent posts covering this specific use case, and unfortunately, I haven’t received a response to a relevant inquiry I sent to Estimote yet.

The core concept is to calculate the visitor’s position and subsequently transmit/store it (timestamped) on a local server running Thingsboard. From there, other applications we are developing will be able to access the visitor’s location data to provide services via a dedicated mobile app.

Is such a project feasible using UWB Tags? Has anyone implemented a similar architecture who could share insights regarding the challenges they faced?
