Apple watch can function as receiver like iphone?
Is it possible to collect beacon data using apple watch instead of carrying iphone?
To some extent. There are Core Bluetooth APIs on watchOS, so Watch apps can detect Bluetooth signals. This is only when the app is running though, that is, if the app is actively on screen, or—for example, the app has an active workout session.
This is what I’ve theorized based on my research of the topic some time ago, when Apple added Core Bluetooth to watchOS. I’ve never tried this in practice though.
